Lyme disease is a condition that is caused by the bite of the bacterium Borrelia burgdorferi, otherwise known as blacklegged ticks. Initial reactions include a rash that can lead to a host of other symptoms as the infection spreads. Many medical practitioners describe those affected by the Lyme disease with no specific signs other than pain, fatigue or joint aches.
Research suggests from 20% to 25% of the people who suffer from the Lyme disease, may develop ongoing symptoms. This may include muscle or joint pains, or constant fatigue and the symptoms may last up to 6 months.

If individuals suspects that they may be suffering from chronic Lyme disease, experts suggest that they inform the doctor of their symptoms right away. They are advised to follow proper dosage of antibiotics that the doctor may have prescribed. Even if symptoms start to abate, the full course of the antibiotic treatment should be carried out.
An antibiotic course for patients suffering with Chronic Lyme disease may last up to 4 weeks. The prolonged duration of antibiotic use ensures that the symptoms go away completely and do not linger once medication is stopped.
How can chronic Lyme disease be treated
If a person is diagnosed with chronic Lyme disease at an early stage a short course of oral antibiotic is prescribed to them such as amoxicillin or doxycycline. But on the other hand if the case is much more complicated a 4 to 5 week of antibiotic therapy is suggested to the patient.

What is a HIIT Workout?

With a healthy working metabolism, your body will burn fat and calories more efficiently even during rest periods, including when you sleep.

What’s a good HIIT workout for the beginner?

There is no right or wrong fitness level to do a HIIT workout. Admittedly, you will want to adjust the specific exercises of the workout to accommodate the beginner until they are up to the challenge of more advanced exercises. HIIT can be applied to running, or squatting, or plyometrics, or even weightlifting.

For the beginner, let’s look at a few cardio exercises that are familiar and fit easily into the HIIT template. An easy HIIT program would be one that is 20 seconds of high intensity work (working at your hardest effort) and then 10 seconds of rest. Let’s take a look:

There is no way in which an individual is prepared to lose a loved one. No matter how sick a person is one will not be ready to lose them. This is because death is very final and one knows that this is the last time they will be seeing this person. This subject should not be forced to the patient but when it comes up the patient should be encouraged to express their fears and concerns. The patient can be asked some open ended questions that will help them in thinking about their eternity. In cases where the patient can be visited by a spiritual person like a priest, pastor or a sheikh then this would also help so that they can have their last prayers with them.

Saying the last words

The patient is encouraged to verbalize their last wishes to the family or relatives. This is a way in which the patient says good bye and rests in peace. The patient is encouraged to express themselves, ask for forgiveness and say thanks to people. This is also a way of stimulating important thoughts and discussions that will help to know the mind and wishes of the patient. In cases where the patient is able to write, they can be advised to leave a letter to explain what they would want after they are gone. This can be things like a will showing how the property should be divided among the children and other relatives.

Providing comfort

The loved should one should be helped as much as possible to be comfortable. This can be done with the support of palliative care specialists like nurses, doctors, physiotherapists and counselors.

When the patient is not able to feed, the lips should be kept moist with a lip balm and this should be applied frequently.

The patients who are bedridden should be assisted to turn frequently while ensuring that they are left in a comfortable position.

The patients who have incontinence should be changed frequently and they can also be nursed with a catheter to avoid the leakage of urine.

The patients who are not able to speak should be spoken to softly while holding their hands.

The action of these enzymes will convert the alcohol into an acid. This conversion, however, can take place only if the hepatic cells are healthy and functioning well.

On a full stomach, the body is able to metabolize 1 gram of alcohol per kilogram bodyweight per hour. This is roughly equivalent to a shot of gin or a bottle of beer.

Therefore, if you are on a social drinking spree, take note to allow an hour for the proper metabolism of that shot of gin or bottle of beer you have just ingested to avoid getting drunk.

If your stomach is empty, ethanol is allowed to rapidly enter the bloodstream that can enhance the side effects of this addictive substance. In more serious cases of alcohol intoxication, the side effects include slurring of speech, vomiting, loss of inhibitions, dizziness, absence of muscle coordination, distortion of time and space, and inability to stand straight.


The dangers of social drinking

“I only drink socially,” you may say. But mind you, social drinking can lead to alcoholism, which is certainly destructive to your health. Of course, wine derived from fruits and plants can be less harmful, yet, it’s always wise to read the alcohol content of your beverage before drinking them. And you must remember that alcohol is addictive, so, even if it’s difficult, you must try to avoid it at all cost.
